Summer Hols West - Skagway

Summer Hols West - Skagway
(14-Aug-07)

Oh No! The kids are about to be carried off by a giant bald eagle!

Our ship with mountains.

Hey Stu, check the angle of the solar panels.
What do you reckon our latitude is?

It's the White Pass - Yukon Express.

The engine. You should see the size of the guys that drive it.

The business end of a train sized snowblower.

The Red Onion - a well known establishment from the Good Old Days :-)

It's a museum now...

Totems - chained to the wall to stop them flying away.

The Ivory shop - no elephants around here though - it's all either mammoth tusks or walrus tusks.

The rare hareabou, a close relative of the jackalope.

Mmm - barrels of money...

Walking along, we came across this little stream that was absolutely full of salmon.

Off to the Skagway Museum.

The long skinny thing?
It's an Oosik.
(Walruses don't need Viagra :-)

Uncle Sam on one of his visits to Alaska.

Back out to the stream - time to tickle some salmon.

I reckon it snows a lot here in the winter.
This dude has his snowmobile ready to go for when the big stuff hits.

Back on board - oh no - bubbles!

The dinner staff give us a little musical number.

Jiwi and Ivan, our waiters.

Look what was waiting when we got back to the room - a puppy.
