Edmonton Eccentrics

This guy has perhaps the least aerodynamic bike ever.

Big Baseball Bat

What's big and shaped like a baseball bat?

Why, Edmonton's Big Baseball Bat, of course :-)

Antique Fair

Well, what better way to get a picture of Canadian life than to go to an antique fair.

And this Antique Fair was not to be missed!!!!

Louanne was just a little bit excited upon arrival!!!

And being fearless Aussies Bron and I grab the buffalo by both horns and jumped right in to explore.

and discover what the Northern Life was really like...

I wondered what we had gotten ourselves in to as certain inconsistencies started to arise between what I was experiencing living in Canada and what I was discovering at the fair.
Seriously, I don't think I had yet seen the sun shine in Edmonton!!!

Impressions so far had led me to believe Canadians were a sweet, kind hearted people.
Now I wonder!!!
This is how they dealt with unwanted gophers. Such sweet little creatures they are too.

So if this is what they do to gophers, what do they do to deer?
Of course - use their parts to make a coffee table!!!

But what did I expect with so much weaponry stuff going on?

Time to settle in with a good book - to learn how it is all done.

and this is what we end up with...

Quite frankly it was a fascinating day and a great experience to just walk around and take it all in.

Every now and then we had to sit down, relax and have a drink. Anyone care for some Cobra Cognac???

It's potent stuff so we had to be careful not to be pulled over by the Mounted Police.

It would not have been an antique fair with out a fare share of G.I. Joe dolls.

I could understand the G.I. Joe thing but this just scared me!!!

Saving the best for last - here is the 'tin that got away' (well one like it because the real one got away-obviously) It was quite an upsetting experience that I can't face talking about just yet. Maybe sometime in the future I will share the story that goes with it.

Needless to say Louanne had a great time...

and we went home with lots of treasures, including some genuine arrow heads.

Easter at Louanne's

Easter at Louanne's
(06-Apr-07)

First the hunt!

Distributing the vanquished prey.

Even Freya got some.
(I suppose her parents would have to help her eat it...)

While we were there, Louanne enlightened me to the fact that of all the photos that we'd taken at her place, she never managed to appear in any of them.

So, to remedy that injustice...
