What a Rush!!!

We have been constantly blown away by the genorosity of Edmontonians.

The day we meet Brandon (at school) he goes off and gets us tickets to a Lacrosse, Edmonton Rush game.
We had heard of this Lacrosse but it was outside any of our experiences.

"What is Lacrosse?" the ignorant Aussies ask.

Lacrosse is unlike anything we know.

It is attitude

It is intense

It is aggressive

It is fast

It is charged

and definitely not for the faint hearted!!!!

Sue (from school) picked us up (which was just lovely because she has seat warmers in her car) and off we went for a wonderful adventure.

Kristy Lou thought it was amazing but a little bit scary when they smashed and bashed into each other. (which is apparently not bad sportsmanship but just the way you play the game!!!)

Check it out: www.edmontonrush.com

Slush and Freeze are the very cool team Mascots (This is Freeze)

Cat Woman and SpiderMan happened to be there as well.

The thing in the crowd was to have a rush shirt and spin it around above your head to cheer on the team. Cayde thought it was a good idea to try it with his jumper. Yes, the jumper with the zippers and hard toggle bits. This proved to be quite dangerous as my head was very close to being hit by fast flying bits. The nature and generosity of Canadians really shone through when the guy behind us gave Cayde an Edmonton Rush shirt to spin and to keep. At least then I was only getting hit in the head repeatedly by fast flying soft bits.

Thankyou to the strangers who showed us the spirit of being a Canadian (even though the players were trying to kill the opposition down in the arena at the same time)

Cayde loves the shirt!

At the end of the night some of us were all rushed out!

So a massive big thankyou to Brandon for making this possible and to Sue for taking us and sharing the Lacrosse experience.

Canadians ROCK!!!!

(and so does the Edmonton Rush)

Maybe in the Hunter they play it on horses :-)

Actually, it looks like the Aussies do a decent job at playing Lacrosse - they scored bronze (behind Canada and the US) in the 2006 world championships. - http://www.2006worldlacrosse.com/index.php?newsitemid=38
